32 Ways to Promote Blog Posts in 5 Minutes or Less

Do you feel stumped or overwhelmed about how to promote blog posts? Well, chances are you’re not getting as much mileage from your blog posts as you could be.

Maybe you’re a bit of a drive-by blogger?

A post-and-runner?

A publish and forget-about-it kinda content creator?

I come across a lot of business owners like this, who spend so much time creating a blog post (the research, the writing, the images, the content upgrade, the formatting) and then publish it with little effort put into the promotion side of things. As soon as it’s published, they’re already moved on to creating the next post.

There’s a simple rule of thumb that I live by when it comes to content marketing – you should spend at least as much time promoting a piece of content as you did to create it. A 1-to-1 ratio.

This ratio is the rule behind my on-repeat answer to a question I get all the time: How often should I be blogging? I always say it depends on (a) how long it takes you to create a blog post on average and (b) how much time do you have each week to dedicate to content marketing? For every post you publish, you should have enough time left to promote it!

But how do you fill that promo time up? Here are 32 x 5-minute ways to do it!

Social Media Methods to Promote Blog Posts

1. Pinterest: Create 3 new vertical graphics and pin them on Pinterest (and to your group boards)

2. Twitter: Write 5 tweets and schedule them using a social media scheduler. Also pin one of them with an image to the top of your profile.

Power up tip: Turn your tweets into evergreen content by using a social media scheduler that cycles through and shares your older content automatically (the ones you’ve chosen). For free (up to 100-300 pieces in your library): Recurpost or Social Jukebox. Paid services: MeetEdgar or CoSchedule

3. Twitter: Change your profile URL and cover photo

4. Twitter: Add a click to tweet to your post. You can use a click-to-tweet plugin or make a prettier click-to-tweet graphic using this easy tutorial from Solopreneur Diaries

5. Twitter: Tag people on Twitter that you linked to or included in your post.

6. Facebook: Create a Facebook post and pin to the top of your Facebook page.

7. Facebook: Change your cover photo for your Facebook page.

8. Facebook: Spend $5 promoting your post to your followers and their friends on Facebook or target your own email list.

9. Facebook: Turn your blog post into a Facebook Live & then turn that Facebook Live into a YouTube video. Here’s a tutorial from Social Media Examiner that’ll help you do this!

10. Facebook: Tag people on Facebook that you linked to or included in your post.

11. Facebook Group: If you have a Facebook group, reuse your Facebook post for your blog and pin to the top of your group

12. Facebook Group: If you have a Facebook group, change the cover photo and description to go to the blog post.

13. Instagram: Create an Instagram post, experiment with using hashtags in the first comment of the post and add the link to your Instagram profile.

14. LinkedIn: Add your blog post to LinkedIn.

15. Social Media: Take one of your Facebook, Instagram or Twitter posts and reuse on any other social media sites you use regularly (Snapchat, Tumblr)

16. Social Media: Speaking of social media – make sure you have good share buttons on your blog posts (see mine to the left via the Monarch plugin)

Website Methods to Promote Blog Posts

17. Add your post to other relevant website pages (homepage, about page, sidebar, start here page). Check out my blog post for how I display my latest blog posts!

18. Use a related post plugin to add your post to the bottom of other relevant blog posts. Mine is done using Related Posts Thumbnails Plugin for WordPress (it's free!)

19. Add a HelloBar to the top of your website with your latest blog post

20. SEO your post. Choose a keyword phrase and optimize for that keyword. It's a long-term strategy but can off big down the road.

Networking and Outreach

21. Send an email to your list about your latest blog post (and tell them why they want to read it)

22. Resend it a week later to anyone who didn’t open the original email with a different subject line

23. Email anyone that you linked to or talked about in your post to give them a heads-up about it.

24. Share in 10 Facebook Groups (usually there will be threads).

25. Add you blog post link to your email signature or out of office.

26. Share the post with 3-5 online friends or people you've spoken with about the topic.

27. Comment on 3 related blog posts (make you comment thoughtful and weave in some of what you write about, include your website address)

28. Try the skyscraper technique as described here by Brian Dean that involves finding people who’ve shared similar content and telling them about your even better blog post.

Bookmarking and Blogging Platforms

29. Submit your post to StumbleUpon.

30. Add your blog and post to Bloglovin’.

31. Go find 3 questions on Reddit to answer that relate to your topic. Here are 10 tips to get started from Smart Insights.

32. Go find 3 questions on Quora to answer that relate to your topic.

Let’s talk about something most content creators struggle with: making offers and tracking progress. We either feel salesy when we promote our services, or we’re so focused on the big wins that we miss all the small victories adding up.

The truth? Every single post is building your authority. Every comment shows engagement. Every DM opens a door to opportunity. But if you’re not tracking these wins, you’re missing the evidence of your growth!

Here’s how:

✅ That thoughtful comment could lead to your next client
✅ The DM asking for advice might turn into a referral
✅ Your consistent posting is secretly building trust
✅ Each piece of content shapes your expert status

This is day 5️⃣ of the 5-Day Content Post-It Challenge where we’re turning your expertise into engaging content AND building the confidence to make aligned offers! No more downplaying your achievements. No more hiding your services. Just 5 days of creating content that showcases your value and tracks your progress.

Most people give up on content creation too soon.

They post a few times, don’t see immediate results, and assume it’s not working... completely missing the power of momentum and consistency.

But here’s what actually happens: Every piece of content you create is like a stepping stone toward your next sale. It’s not about that ONE viral post or that ONE perfect offer. It’s about consistently showing up and building trust over time.

The most successful course creators and coaches understand this. Look at any thriving online business and you’ll find someone who’s been steadily sharing valuable content for months or years. They didn’t just “get lucky” – they understood the power of the tipping point.

Think about your own buying decisions:
👉 You see someone’s content repeatedly
👉 You start recognizing their expertise
👉 You begin trusting their perspective
👉 Eventually, you’re ready to buy

This is day 4️⃣ of the 5-Day Content Post-It Challenge where we’re embracing the power of social proof and understanding that success isn’t about perfection – it’s about consistency! No more wondering “how many posts until I make a sale.” No more giving up too soon. Just 5 days of building unstoppable momentum with your content.

Let’s get real for sec: Most people are scared to share their real opinions online. They water down their message trying to please everyone... and end up connecting with no one.

But here’s what the data actually shows: In 2025, it takes 20-50 touchpoints before a cold lead becomes a customer (emailtooltester.com). That means playing it safe isn’t just holding you back – it’s actively slowing down your sales cycle!

Every post that reflects your true perspective is a powerful touchpoint. Every email that challenges industry norms builds trust. Every story that shares your unique take moves someone closer to becoming a client.

According to emailtooltester:

Inactive customers need just 1-3 touchpoints to re-engage
Warm leads need 5-12 touchpoints to convert
Cold leads need 20-50 touchpoints before they buy

This is day 3️⃣ of the 5-Day Content Post-It Challenge where we’re ditching the cookie-cutter content and finally sharing the hot takes that will make you stand out! No more echoing what everyone else is saying. No more hiding your true opinions. Just 5 days of creating content that actually reflects who you are and what you believe.

If you’ve been holding back on sharing your expertise because someone told you “educational content doesn’t work anymore,” it’s time to think again!

Your knowledge and experience are exactly what your ideal clients need - but HOW you share it makes all the difference.

Today we’re flipping the script on traditional educational content. Instead of another “how-to” post that gets lost in the noise, we’re sharing your unique journey through “How I” stories that showcase both your expertise AND your humanity.

The magic happens when you stop trying to write the perfect tutorial and start sharing the real lessons you’ve learned along the way. Those messy middle moments? The unexpected breakthroughs? That’s where the true connection happens.

Remember yesterday when we talked about content exposure therapy? Well, today we’re building on that momentum. Each time you share your experience openly, you’re not just creating content - you’re becoming someone who shows up consistently, someone who leads with value, someone your audience trusts to guide them.

This is day 2️⃣ of the 5-Day Content Post-It Challenge, and we’re transforming from overthinking experts into confident content creators! Today’s powerful “How I” format helps you share your expertise through story, creating content that resonates, educates, AND builds genuine connections.

Watch what happens when you commit to this journey - 5 days becomes 10, becomes 30, and suddenly you’re the expert who shows up consistently, whose content makes an impact, whose audience eagerly awaits their next insight.

>>>>> Your ideal clients are out there RIGHT NOW looking for solutions you already have!

Everyone feels nervous about hitting publish at first.

That voice in your head questioning if your content is “good enough” or if anyone will care? Totally normal.

But here’s what most people don’t realize - posting content is like exposure therapy. Each time you push through that resistance and hit publish, you’re not just creating content - you’re building confidence, creating touchpoints with your audience, and developing a visibility muscle that will serve your business for years to come.

This is day 1️⃣ of the 5-Day Content Post-It Challenge where we’re getting out of our head and FINALLY showing up consistently online! No more overthinking, no more perfectionism, no more “I’ll post it tomorrow.” Just 5 days of taking action and watching your confidence grow with every single post.
